North American Friday: Arriving in Santiago de CubasteemCreated with Sketch.

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

When I visited Cuba at Christmas/New Year's 2015, the tourist infrastructure was at the brinck of collapse: A seat in a tourist bus had to be booked several days in advance, while faster buses for Cubans were not allowed to take foreigners. Unwilling to give up my flexibility and with the added benefit of saving some money, I crossed Cuba taking only local transport. After I had travelled from Havana to Camaguey in the center of Cuba in several local trucks, I finally managed to take a night train from there to Santiago de Cuba where I was greeted by this sunrise.

Such a great shot when I travelled around I to used to like using the local transport and going cattle class ie what everyone there uses you really get a feel for the country that ay although all my friends thought i was crazy

Cattle class is the way to go! When travelling, I find that the least comfort (and the least money spent) usually means the best experience!

Yes exactly, the trips I remember most fondly are the ones with the roughest conditions I must admit, Luxury is nice occasionally but seeing and feeling the real feel of a country will never be forgotten
