The Potomac River at Great Falls
There has recently been a lot of rain in the area, so the Potomac river at Great Falls is higher than normal. This is the main part of the river as seen from Olmsted Island.
Here's a closeup of the river, I used a slow shutter speed to get some motion blur in the water. The rock in the foreground of this picture can be seen on the left side of the first picture.
There are a couple of smaller river channels, this is the channel that separates the island from the mainland. It is also swollen with water
You get from the mainland to the island by crossing this bridge, it is still well above the water level.
I took all these pictures using a Nikon D800.
