His career spans 70 years. In his logbook was written a lot of historical moments - flooding, and then the rise from the bottom of the sea, the salvation of the Arctic expedition Humberto Nobile and support allied convoys during world war II, the passage of the Northern route to America and 885-day circumnavigation. In 1980, the year the icebreaker "Krasin" is moored on the eternal Parking in the city of Leningrad. He became a Museum ship in force to the present day.

Stunning, can't imagine how they could manage to design such complex structures without using computers. I would like to see nowadays ships when they have the same age... guess they won't look so strong and beatuiful.

I can never wrap my mind around the fact that people spend months (or years) of their lives living in tiny corridors and harsh weather conditions in the ocean. It's awesome and insane in the same proportion hahaha.
