Today for #SevenDaysOutside Challenge I will show you unusual sculptures of St. Petersburg. In our city you can find dozens of unusual monuments that are not shown on excursions that are not included in the registers of the state important cultural heritage, but they are not devoid of special charm and quite interesting. My short story today is about them.

Strict winged lions located opposite each other, almost at the water. These griffins protect the embankment and promise all happiness, wealth and long life. To do this, you have to stroke their wings and look into their eyes, well, or hold his right fang ...

This cat Elisey and Vasilisa cat. They are the most famous of the informal sculptures of our city. This monument was erected in honor of the cats who saved the besieged Leningrad from the invasion of rats and mice. In those difficult times, people and animals had to starve. In order to save the remains of food for the residents of the besieged city, it was decided to bring four railway cars of smoky cats. Cats hunted rodents and thus saved people from starvation. So if you want to catch the tail of your luck, you need to throw a coin so that it remains on the ledge of the building.

It's a monument to the chimney sweep. This sculpture appeared in one of the courtyards in memory of this now rare and unique profession. Here is a collective image of a cheerful man in a cylinder and with his professional tools: a rope, a panicle and a ladder.

Bronze sculpture of a small bird. Her height is 11 centimeters. Despite its small size it is known to all. Each of us at least once tried to test the happiness and to throw a coin on good luck. Chizhik Pyzhik is a full-fledged resident of our city and a character of one of the city legends.

St. Petersburg angel. This cute old man in the image of an angel modestly located on the edge of the bench in one of the city yards. This is a collective image of all the elderly people of Leningrad, who had a special spiritual culture and who are still trying to convey to us the warmth of their hearts , wisdom, cheerfulness and good attitude to people.

And finally, a cult character. One of the city legends says that the island, on which the Peter and Paul fortress was later built, often suffered from floods during the time of Peter the great. And one day, when the Neva again came out of the banks, Peter the Great moored to the island by boat. In that moment, in fear fleeing from the water, on boots Peter jumped timid hare. In honor of this, the Emperor ordered to call this place - Hare Island. Now every visitor tries to throw a coin from the bridge so that it remains lying on a wooden support, where this small sculpture is located.
