Frozen Willow Catkins + Snowy Landscapes + Skyporn
March has been colder than February so far. This week, we've had the temperature alternating between freezing and above zero but freezing on average. It has snowed a little which makes everything more beautiful. Fortunately, we haven't had more than a centimetre or so. Some photos taken today.
I like how the trees look as if they had more interesting looking texture after a snowfall.
These willow catkins have a little snow on them that is melting in the sun. Spring equinox is on March 20. That's only eleven days from now. The sun is actually quite powerful already as it is capable of forcing afternoon maximums to rise above freezing. The nights can be very cold particularly if the skies are clear.
The sun was shining very brightly and I had, in fact, a little difficulty seeing the lightmeter values on the camera display. The images in this whole did turn out exposed ok. I did tweak them a little in post processing, though.
Here's a dramatic black and white version.
Very nice set of photos!! The sky is so blue!
