Tampere Cityscape Over Lake Pyhäjärvi

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

I posted some long exposures taken in Hatanpää, a cape jutting into the western end of the lake at sunset yesterday. I promised to post the rest of the pictures today. Here they are. I have to say the tripod was an excellent investment as it, not surprisingly, was a massive boost to image quality and possibilities. I'm going to the city center today. I'm going to be shooting for a couple of hours after which I'm going to have a well-deserved beer. But for now, I have some cityscape pictures from yesterday.

It is highly recommended that you look at the images in a large size.

In the centre of the image, you can see Eteläpuisto, a park in the south end of Hämeenpuisto, a kilometre-long esplanade running from Näsinpuisto on the shore of Lake Näsijärvi in the north to Eteläpuisto. Sadly, the park is zoned for residential development. All the huge projects such as the 2.3 km long tunnel on the north side over which an entirely new district, Ranta-Tampella is being built, the light rail system under construction among other things are putting the city in a lot of debt. So, the city seems to want to try and squeeze money from wherever it can.

On the left, you can see a bridge over the Tammerkoski rapid where it discharges into Lake Pyhäjärvi. The tall building behind the bridge and the Ratina stream pool is Hotel Ilves. Further to the left, you can see Ratinanranta, a new district, all the buildings of which were built in the 2010s.

This is the entire north shore of the bay of Lake Näsijärvi between the city centre and Hatanpää.

You can see some stars very clearly as well. Astrophotography is something I have on my bucket list to try.
