Meliá Barcelona Sky

Seville was a true heart breaker, in so far as the city makes you fall in love with it, but inevitably, you have to leave. I couldn't get enough of it's pastel coloured houses lining the cobble stone windy narrow streets. The Gothic grand architecture and outrageously large Cathedral leave such a deep impact, but then it's the little things like the Flamenco live music along the dimly lit streets that enchant you and leave you lusting for more.

Spain is one of those countries on the back foot of the European discussion. Many people speak about Germany, France or even Belgium, the troubled countries like Greece, but it was only until recently that Spain came into the spot light over the Catalonia declaration of independence from Spain. Such is the place I am intending to visit and thankfully the worse of the riots and disputes are over. It would appear that the leader has decided not to follow through with the coup de grace and Catalonia will not attempt to divorce from the rest of Spain.

From the sky, you can see this beautiful eastern part of Spain which faces the ever blue Mediterranean sea. Barcelona is actually the capital of this Autonomous region and how fitting that I will be staying at the Melia Barcelona Sky hotel.

So, some basic facts about the hotel.

It is located in Barcelona just 10 minutes walk from one of the best beaches in the vibrant district of Poble Nou. It's is also just a few steps from the CCIB conference centre.

The hotel is inside the emblematic skyscraper which is 29 storey's high.

At the top, you will find a 360 degree panoramic terrace which is exclusive to hotel guests. This is also where you'll find the panoramic pool and Merkado Cocktail Bar. Both worth a visit.

The rooms themselves are spacious and modern offering breathtaking views of the city and comprising some of the most state of the art technology. Even the standard rooms which is the one you see pictured below are a good size and have large comfortable beds. The toilets have pull across doors for privacy as well as large shower cubicles.

Something worth noting is their consistent lighting them throughout the room. You can also change this in your control panel if you feel like a different mood. Certainly the atmosphere is relaxing and plenty comfortable and this is bolstered by some of the most accommodating and professional staff I have ever seen in a four star hotel.
