It looks like first acquaintance with Death, isn't it. The Teddy probably thinks that butterfly sleep and hopes that any next moment it just starts to flutter the wings.
It is amazing how the eyes dried up. "Ashes to Ashes dust to dust" passed very well to that cartoon :)
