This is a noon fly (Mesembrina meridiana), schorsvlieg in Dutch:

It looks quite sophisticated, as flies go, with its gold trimmings. Very gentlemanlike.

In fact, this species mates, and lays eggs, in horse shit, and its larvae don't eat the dung, but the larvae of other insects.

It appears some Steemians have taken this fly as their role model.
