Trip to Montenegro IV - Durmitor Nationalpark [EN/DE]

This post was supposed to be about an adventurous rafting trip from Serbia to Montenegro. We ordered this event from one of the countless promotion guys at the beach, offering rafting tours. We got ready to be picked up at 6 o'clock in the morning at the hotel, when suddenly a girl from that company appeared and told us the tour was canceled, because there were not enough participants. Fortunately she had another great deal instead - an halfday guided bus tour through the Durmitor Nationalpark with lunch at the end. The problem: it was an russian only tour. Anyways, we decided to participate. But since we did not understand one word this day, most of the information I´m giving you in this post are from googeling them now (which is super interesting five years later - Finally I know which spots we visited!). Another problem that really annoyed me were the incredibly dirty windows of the bus. For me - as a photographer - it´s a catastrophe. We still made enough breaks, but I missed some of the most epic views...

First we drove along the deep turquoise Tara river further and further into the Durmitor mountains.

Anfangs fuhren wir entlang des tieftürkisen Flusses Tara immer weiter hinein ins Durmitor Gebirge.

Our first stop was at a little monastery. Its name is Morača and it was built in 1252. I loved the associated beekeeping monastery...

The next stop was the Tara brigde, which is about 150 meter above the Tara canyon at the deepest point.

One of the most interesting things for me about Montenegro is its diversity on the little area of this country. There are the most beautiful beaches and hot weather at the coast, but if you drive into the mountains, it gets refreshingly cool. Our last stop before lunch was the stunning Titova lake, surrounded by conifers. We loved this spot. Almost felt like home in the Black Forest. Can you feel the cold by looking at those pictures...?

No rafting - but I hope you enjoyed this little tour as well.

That bridge photo is just gorgeous. Very nicely captured, patschwork :).

Thanks! it's all about adjusting and cropping afterwards ;)

kinda weird to translate. strait would be "swimming allowed with personal responsibility" in terms of you can swim but we are not responsible if something happens to you. And the sign stood the test of time, i took this in 2013

now reading the Budva post and seeing it was taken in 2012 :D

Thanks a lot :) How cool is that you went to the same place! Who knows if it´s still standing...

Servus.

Wow. Wunderbare Gegend.

Durmitor is one of the most beautiful places I've been. Absolutely amazing nature. Montenegro's coast is a little bit overhyped comparing to the mountains. Thanks for sharing these photos that reminded me that heaven :) I also took one of my best photos there, take a look:

This is a majestic photo indeed, thanks a lot for sharing. Unfortunately this was our only trip away from the coast..
