The King Kamehameha Statue stands in front of Aliʻiolani Hale in Honolulu, Hawaii. The statue was created in 1878 when Walter M. Gibson, who was a member of the Hawaiian government, wanted to commemorate the 100-year arrival of Captain Cook to the Hawaiian Islands.
