Masked Bandit

in #photography5 years ago

This is my entry for the Deranged Photography Contest organized by @derangedvisions. Check out his post Here for info on the contest.

I was visiting a friend and looked out the window to see an adult raccoon up on the deck railing and eating the food my friend put out for the bird. A raven often visits and likes dry cat food. The raccoon seemed to like it too and cleaned everything up in no time.

It was amazing to see how the masked bandit picked up the food with his little paws and put it in his mouth. Most animals I see, besides monkeys, use their mouths to pick up the food to eat.

Raccoons are wild animals and opportunistic food finders. They will often raid outside garbage cans and are quite efficient in opening the most difficult lids to check out the food scraps. Even in cities they manage to find food and survive.

Another photo I took of the raccoon that day. Normally they hunt for food at night but this one knew a good thing and was smart enough to get to the food before the raven.

I like the mask across the eyes and the ringed tail on the little bandit.

Much appreciated @esteemapp! ♥️

It's funny, and looks like a little dog

Yes they are funny little critters. 😊 🦝

Great photos Jo of the Raccoon. They are quite amazing looking animals aren't they.

Thanks Trudee. They are the cutest babies and @goat-girlz had one as a baby. I don’t know what she did with it.

He went to a very good home! He's doing really well.

I was hoping you’d reply @goat-girlz. Good to know he is doing well. 😊 🦝

I love raccoons, and yes!! They usually forage at night, but, they are opportunistic little creatures. Especially when they have found a good thing. It is worthy of breaking habits when you have a picnic with your name on it.

Great shot and I love these guys and love to watch them eat.

I was camping once and caught some raccoons in a trash bin. The mother scattered when she heard me and left her three little ones behind, stuck at the bottom of the bin. Awwwww!

Have a great day and thanks for posting this cutie!

Thanks Denise and for the tip. Coons are resourceful little critters. My friend’s is really tame. I have one that comes by here each night but he is afraid and runs off if I go outside. Maybe just as well! I have some photos of him hightailing it to the forest. 😊

Hehehe!

Yes!! Just as well he is afraid! They can be a pain as cute as they are!

This sure gave me a good laugh! That look of being caught with his hand in the cookie jar is both cute and funny! Looks like he was planning on staying a while and take his time enjoying the meal! 🙂
