Today I am sharing one of our local common ingredients which we eat as a vegetable and also good as a natural medicine. That is 'Drumstick'. Google is showing the scientific name as 'Moringa Oleifera'.

• You can eat the leaves, the fruit- Drumstick and even the flower also. People here use the leaves to cook vegetable with other different green leaves and vegetable and eat it with rice.
• I have seen the people to eat the flower. Just steam it, crush it with some chilli and salt. I never eat that so can't say how it tastes.
• But what I love most is the curry made out of Drumstick. We used to add some potato, crushed mastered to prepare it. It's very delicious.

I am sharing some health benefits of Drumstick and it's leaves as I know. It's very nutritious. The tree is very large and can give fruit for many years. One tree is enough to feed one whole family!

There are different medicinal use of this leaves and seed pod but I do not know them much to be honest. You can see the research on this for more info.

The leaves is good for cardiac disease and to control the sugar level.
People say that it reduces the risk of cancer.
Drumstick is good for internal organs and digestive system.

My In-law's house contains a Drumstick tree. It looks wonderful when the full tree holds the seed pods Drumstick. I specially love the beautiful white flower of the tree. They also contains a good smell.
