How to plan for the Milky Way and night sky photography
Photography can capture some amazing and breathtaking photos of night sky. With a decent DSLR or Mirrorless camera, you can capture pretty good photographs of the night sky. You can capture stars and the Milky Way to create great night sky photos.

But in order to prepare for same you need to keep in mind some important things that are kind of must haves for this.
- Wide angle lens- A wide angle lens gives you more area to capture, hence a greater view of the stars or Milky Way.
- Fast lens- A fast lens is the one which has wide aperture. Something around 2.8 or less is very good for this as it allows more light to be captured.
- Tripod- As the night sky shots require the shutter to be open for much longer, it is essential to have a steady tripod.
- Remote Shutter Release- A remote shutter allows you to press the shutter from it instead of pressing it on the camera itself. This helps in preventing any movement to the camera and also take multiple shots, one after another.
- Dark Sky Area- It is always recommended to look for a location which is outside the town, to get rid of the light pollution of city lights.
- Moonless Nights- Moonless or new moon nights are the best because the light from Moon doesn’t overpowers the light coming from stars, hence making them more prominent.
