In a lot of areas the dunes are protected because of the grasses and plants and wildlife, however there are some areas you can bring dune buggies, 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. I'd love to do that.

Great shot! I am a frequent dune hiker when I'm on the west side of the state. Like you said in the middle of summer it's a hell fo a work out.
