Buddhist Pilgrims part 1

in #photography5 years ago

In most religion around the world there is an auspicious pilgrimage that many will undergo as part of their religious journey. Tibetan Buddhism has its own set of teachings and with it comes a time and place of worship. I came to know about the practice of Kora in which pilgrims would visit a holy place of worship and circle around the area or object while deep in prayer. Kora is practiced widely across Tibet and it is often clear when someone has embarked on a spiritual journey as they will be deep in pray and following the path of the Kora procedure. The prayers and chanting are carried out as a form of cleanings and confession of the past and will help to bring them better fortunes and blessings in the future. It shows a deep level of discipline and dedication to the religion.

There are many ways in which Kora is carried out. In Tibetan tradition it can be observed that those who follow the Tibetan form of Buddhism will often carry out the act of Kora around sacred locations. This can include lakes, mountains and other places of worship.
