Visiting Sydney Town Hall #1

in #photography6 years ago

Sydney is a wonderful city, on this occasion I paid a visit to the Sydney Town hall in George Street. The surrounding area is made up of fabulous architecture with a Cathedral, hotels and even the Queen Victoria Building is located nearby.

The towering structure was a true sight to behold as I approached the entrance, I couldn’t help but look up in awe as the obelisk like tower stood tall in front of me. The design of this building draw a lot of inspiration from Victorian architecture which reflects the reign of the queen during the 19th century. This is said to contain an infusion of influences that takes even Middle Eastern and Asian design into its stature. This Town Hall in particular draws inspiration from the local administration in Paris, Hôtel de Ville and possesses a number of similarities to other town halls across the world.

From the outside it seemed to me that the towering structure was purposely designed to be the centre piece for this building. It’s an iconic and eye catching design and the sandstone which was used for its construction radiates a warm and majestic composition. There wasn’t much of a breeze on this day and the flag remained stationary on its pole.
