Wine Tasting in Australia Part 1

Wine tasting is a unique experience that lets one heighten their tasting senses and evaluate the quality of wine. This practice dates back all the way into the 14th century and has since seen a professional industry boom as a need for connoisseurs came into demand. As with all buying and selling, knowing your product and its true quality will influence what one wishes to deal with. This profession has also entered a more casual and recreational scenario as casual wine tasters learn to discern the differences between various smells, flavours and everything that underpins a quality wine.

When tasting wine, a number of tools and processes are employed. A wine glass is a simple yet effective way to assess a wines appearance. Perception of wine is also important as it sits in a glass. Heading out to a wine tasting session in Australia was an amazing way to spend the day. The tasting sessions are great for seasoned wine tasters and those new to the experience also. It was great to see, swirl, absorb aromas, taking sips and then finally savouring each unique taste. The complexity of this activity can certainly escalate depending on the assessment criteria. However, in my case the tasting of wines and exploring different fusions was purely for leisure purposes.

Aside from wines, there was a great selection of French lemonades. The bottles shown are from Alsace, east France. The colourful traditional lemonade comes in many different flavours and I have to say, it’s very easy to consume these vibrant bottles. The grenadine and citrus flavours were my favourite. The brand ‘Hansi Limonade’ pays homage to its traditional style, even with its brand art.

There were so many wine choices and our host for the session was most helpful. A selection of wines were provided to show the subtle contrast in taste. With every sip one could identify slightly unique tastes that these don. From white wines to reds and pinks. The afternoon was filled with a diverse range of flavours hailing from around the world including some local beverages. The venue was also packed with various gift items for sale.
