Wine Tasting in Australia Part 2

in #photography6 years ago

Continuing my afternoon of wine tasting, we were taken to another section that hosted barrels of wine. There were so many products from around the world, it was interesting to hear about the winemaking industry as a whole. There are things that the average consumer may not consider when picking their preferred drink for an occasion.

The production of wine is a complex process that involves selecting suitable fruits for a fermentation process that eventually turns into the tasty alcohol that one has swishing around in a wine glass. There is a deep science that underpins winemaking and there many different terminologies to understand when digging deep here. Oenology is the science and understanding of winemaking.

The world of wine isn’t monochromatic either, there are a great spectrum of ingredients, styles and flavours to choose from. The main divisions will come from the types of wine that can be selected. This includes white, red and rosé typically. Depending on the country, region and other specifics, the method used to create wine will vary. It truly is amazing how different parts of the world choose to make their wine.

Interestingly, rosé can actually be made totally from red grapes that are expose to the skin for a period of time. This provides the tinge in colour that gives the pink/rose colour to the wine. The alternative method to this is a blend of both white and red wines to form a balance composition and appearance.
