Land and Sky View of Niagra Falls, Canada

in #photography6 years ago

Both the large Horseshoe Falls and the smaller American Falls are collectively called "Niagra Falls". There is apparently a 3rd smallest Fall (Bridal Veil Falls) but I didn't see it. The helicopter ride above the falls was fantastic!

Further up-river there is a dam which is used to produce Hydro Electricity.

To the left, you can see the tourist boat entering the Horseshoe Falls area. I can't imagine those people that have gone over in a barrel...unless it was a beer keg and they drank the beer keg first?? (left are Horseshoe Falls, right are American Falls)

You can see how close the hand railing is to the falls. I know, while I was standing there taking photos, I was hoping someone was checking frequently for water erosion.

Creepy, yet very cool that tourists can get so close to the drop-off.

Guaranteed with all the mist in the air...if it is a sunny day, there will be a rainbow!

These are all my own photos

I hope you enjoyed my post because I enjoyed making it.

Great Pictures!!

Truly stunning. are the overhead shots yours or from a helicopter or drone? quite amazing anyway to see how humans have harnessed that landscape and nature ...

Thanks! Yes they are my shots from a helicopter we hired while there.

Pretty! I've still not gotten out to see that, though I do seem to end up living near waterfalls. I hope they check the screws and footings for that railing, too!

Do you suppose you could get one of those giant inflatable hamster ball things and fill it with helium, then go over the falls in it? The helium and air resistance would slow you down quite a bit, and they're clear. Think of the view you would get as you plummeted to the raging river below!

Ha, that’s an awesome mental picture! And with your zoom lens maybe you could capture the scream factor through that clear hamster ball thingys as they went over! lol

Wow! I never looked them up before. $699! There's probably enough inflatable pocket that you'd have to mix helium and oxygen or risk going up instead of down :-)

Ha! Better yet! There's one on Amazon that would work. It's only $60 and for kids, but I'm under the 150-pound weight limit! Now I only need a bunch of sponsors and a waterproof camera. That $700 one includes free logo pacement.

According to Stuff You Should Know, it would take roughly 68,000 liters of helium to lift me off the ground.

Oh, too fun!! I'd sponsor you! lol

epic photos ! nature at it's finest !

Thanks! Appreciate you having a look at my post :)

Amazing, i like it. the photo taken from the top is amazing

Amazing photos! I love the photo you share with us, with the rainbow! Very nice! 😊

Thank you!

beautiful photos! the first photo you took it from your helicopter ? :)

Thanks! Not this time :) We hired this helicopter.

I've been to Niagara Falls many many times but I've never been in a helicopter...that looks exciting but scary. The scariest part of Niagara Falls for me is the sound and being close to the drop off as in your photo.

I thought it was funny what you said about those going over in a barrel....I don't get it either and they had to have drank the beer first....for sure. lol

Yes, the falls are certainly loud. You really should try the helicopter tour next time, it’s definitely worth it.

Wow..amazing photography..
I like this...
Thanks for sharing

Such a wonderful sight. The helicopter ride must have been awesome with such a magnificent view. Almost 15 years ago I had visited Niagara. The falls are stunning.
Rainbow picture is very beautiful.

Thanks! Crazy how time flys, and I bet it felt like not that long ago?
