Adrenaline path to the monastery
Not every tourist who came to see "in the eyes of God", that is, the cave Prohodna, knows that this is not the end of the attraction.
If you walk through the cave and carefully make your way along the steep slope of the ravine, you can also get into other equally interesting caves, in which people still live to this day. And if you go to the other side of the ravine and walk to the Iskar River, you can see a sign pointing to a rock monastery. And all this at a rather high altitude: looking out on the river is breathtaking!
Indeed, in the 14th century in these places there was a monastery founded by hesychasts - monks practicing Orthodox asceticism. Unfortunately, nothing has survived from it, except for the place.
Enthusiasts built on this site a chapel, which is called the church, and in the guidebooks in general a monastery, although no one lives there. This is the Circus Sveta Marina.
The road there is steep and scary. With my fear of heights, I, of course, experienced great stress and received a dose of adrenaline a year in advance.
It is necessary to move, having nestled on the rock and holding on to the steel cable, which is stretched along it. Under your feet will be, then a narrow goat trail, then a board, then a short bridge and also go back.
The church itself is under reconstruction, there are stones in the courtyard, which are yet to be laid down.
The chapel was closed and we were only able to look in the cracks - there really is a cave into which this chapel is built.
There is a rock manastir of Sveta Marina at an altitude of 300 meters on almost a sheer cliff - the impressions are very strong, which, it is a pity, are not transmitted in any way by photos.
