Author's note: Happy Chinese New Year! Yesterday I went with my brother to the main building of our alma mater, Yucatan's Autonomous University; there were celebrations due to the Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, as it is also known. The New Year celebration is one of the most important festivals on Chinese culture; for them, a new year must be seen with hope and it's a great opportunity to reunite with family and friends. As a side note, this year 2019 is the Pig's Year; this animal is considered as a representation of abundance and fertility, so some people in this year hopes a great envelopment in their lives.

On the event there were some tea degustation, origami, scissor-stone-paper games, riddles and some Chinese language lessons. It was fun and interesting to know more about this ancient culture.

In my personal Instagram's stories you can find some videos I took on the event.
