Not all good portraits are the result of a well-lighted studio setting. Some, like this one, were just a moment in time captured because a camera was handy. The Miss was on her way to a Philharmonic concert and had reached down to a table in front of a mirror to get her car keys.
The moment blessed the rest of us with a brief set of twins!
There is not a clear line between a snapshot and a portrait; the former being a quick image taken because of the moment while the latter assumes a more formal event to stage the setting and model for a traditional frozen-in-place picture of a person. To me, the result is what matters and this captured moment could have been posed and would have turned out just as satisfactorily.
A basic rule of thumb is: a good picture is a good picture.
