［EN/JP］Internationally popular beautiful toilet in New Zealand / トイレには、おしゃれ過ぎるトイレ in NZ

Guess what this room is!
As I wrote in this title, here is internationally popular beautiful toilet in NZ. haha
That sounds funny.

One day on the weekend trip in NZ, one of my friend suggested us suddenly.
''Oh! I found a good spot!! It's toilet!! Let's go to toilet~!!''

We couldn't understand what did he mean. Does he wanna ***?
Anyway, nobody rejected his suggest at that time. In case, he really wanna ***.
Then we drove 20 mins to small city, Kawa Kawa. The sound is really cute :)
Some city name is named by aboriginal name in NZ.

When we arrived at the place by Google map, we were really confused.
"Is this toilet?? Why this toilet is decorated like that??"

After going back to Japan, I searched about the internationally popular beautiful toilet on Google.
It was made by Friedensreich Hundertwasser who is Austrian famous architecture. And he used to live in Kawa Kawa in 1970s. He also designed garbage disposal facility in Osaka like below.

How about visiting this toilet if you have any chance to visit Kawa Kawa in NZ?

ちょうどNZを離れる最後の週末、現地の友人とNZの北島をレンタカーで一周しようという話になった。
いわゆる卒業旅行である。
その途中、立ち寄ったのがここ。NZ北部の町Kaw Kawにあるオシャレ過ぎるトイレである。

最初足を踏み入れた時、これがトイレ？と信じられない気持ちでいっぱいだった。
なぜ、トイレにステンドグラス？
それもこんなおしゃれにデザインされて。

旅の途中、突然、社内で友達が叫びだした。
『いいとこ見つけたから行こう！！世界的に有名なトイレだって！！』
なぜだかみんな盛り上がり始めて、自分は眠かったので、とりあえずついていくことにした。
『みんなトイレしたかったのかな？』くらいに思って。

それから運転すること約20分、目的のトイレがあるKawa Kawaに到着。
Kawa KawaはNZ北部にある小さな町で、名前は先住民族がつけたらしい。

Google mapでトイレを探していると、それらしき場所にたどり着いた。
どこをどう見ても、トイレの外観ではない。

思い思いに時間を過ごし、また次の目的に向かったわけだったが、
オシャレすぎるトイレのことが気になって、帰国後、調べてみた。

作者はオーストリア出身の有名な芸術家　フリーデンスライヒ・フンデルトヴァッサー氏。
1970年代にNZ北部のKaw Kawに住み着き、晩年を過ごしたらしい。
日本では、大阪に彼のデザインしたごみ処理施設『大阪市環境局舞洲工場』が残っているそうだ。

トイレやゴミ処理場をデザインしたのは、彼自身のテーマである『自然との共存、自然回帰』を追求した末に、たどり着いた対象だったのかもしれない。
