On the Edge of Winter - Across Canada, Day 58 of 92

Another morning, another mountain...

This one is called Mt. Chephren, and it was a really cool experience, more literally than figuratively, to be here alone under the stars taking pictures.... November was COLD at this location with a higher elevation along the Icefield Parkway, in Banff National Park. When I say "cold" I mean below -20C (-4F), and possibly closer to -30. Wearing all the warm gear in my possession, I was still a little chilled as I stood out by this not-quite-frozen river in the middle of the night. It was challenging to adjust and operate the camera, which was low down close to the ice on the edge of the water, using gloves and with the tripod seizing up from the frost and the LCD panel on the back of the D850 sluggish from the cold, but it's amazing how much patience and mental warmth the prospect of taking a good photo provides.
