Emotions in Street Photography

Emotions is one of the most important gestures to photograph in Street photography.

A love affair

This is what human kind is all about.

Photographing emotion may be a bit risky as some people may not appreciate being photographed while showing emotion. I usually try to be discrete when walking the streets to photograph.

This series on street photography is not about gear, but this one time I would like to mention that I am of the opinion that it is easier to get great street photographs when you do not look like a professional photographer. Having a very small camera does not attract attention. I am using a Fujifilm X100F for my street photography and since I started using it, I have been much more successful in capturing special moments.

In this photo the woman's body language is that of somebody that tries to take in every word her companion is speaking.

!Merry Christmas
The environment could also play a role to put emphasis on the suggestion. I the "Merry Christmas" scene, the facial expression of the figure in the advertisement plays a big role in creating the emotion one feels by looking at this homeless man.

Finding a scene that will evoke emotion is not easy to find. The best tip I have is to make sure that you always carry your camera with you – ready for the moment you see emotion.
