Too much of plastics for kids toys

I had a small kid in my house. My sister's daughter. We had an issue with her where she bites every object that is given to her. I had so much concern on this because most of her gaming items were in plastic. We make sure there are no small objects for her to play, but even though there are bigger objects for her to play, everything was only in plastics. I was worried about our environment. The kid is going to use the toy only for few months or few years. After that it will be sent only to trash. As the toys are very small to recycle, it will be only sent to trash.

Already we have been accumulating lots of plastic trash in our environment. The micro-organisms that usually break down the trash are also tired now because they are finding it difficult to handle plastic trash. They just remain as it is in the earth crust now. We cannot burn them or we cannot bury them because they are not good for the environment. Even if we bury them, they are not going to decompose because they are not bio-degradable. Especially when it comes to toys of the kids, there is so much of plastic trash that is dumped every year. I was wondering why we are not moving towards an alternative option.

If we don't have any alternatives, then I'm able to understand using these plastic items until we find an alternative. But in today's world, we have an alternative for almost every plastic item. But we still refuse to go towards the alternatives. The reason is because we are so used to these plastic items. Few days back I was happy to read some articles about how we are moving towards plastic alternatives that will be used to make toys for the kids. In olden days, the toys played by the kids used to be a wood work done by a neat carpenter. Today we even have good tools and machines available to craft the wood to whatever shape we want. I think it is the ideal time to move towards wood based toys eradicating plastic completely from the toys world.

I'm sure the person why started plastic idea would have had only the innovation and cost effectiveness in their mind. They would have worried about what will happen if we mass produce plastic toys and dump it in our trash yard after the use. It is not only harming the nature or the humans but also other organisms living along with us here are getting affected. We are able to read articles online about how plastic materials are creating a big head ache for the sea creatures. In many countries trash is being dumped into the rivers and oceans. They think that it goes out of their country but not out of this world. In one form or the other it will come back to us and affect us.
