Princess Elizabeth Playground - A fun park to visit in Adelaide

Playground Entrance.jpg

On a recent trip to Adelaide, we spied this awesome kids playground, just on the outskirts of Adelaide. For those that don't know Adelaide is surrounded by parklands, which must be nice if you work in the city and want to take a nature stroll at lunchtime.

And this playground is perfect for active kids as there are a lot of different elements they can enjoy and it's even suitable for older kids (parents) too.

So here are a few pictures I took whilst at the park.

Climbing

Regardless of your childs age, climbing spiderwebs area lot of fun, and it's a great place to play a little tag if there are a few of you. This one had a tunnel in there too for something a little different.

They even had a little more conventional climbing frame too, with monkey bars and a strange single bar slide.

Bouncing

These are the new playground elements I've seen popping up around Australia. Yes, the humble trampoline is back and these little ones are much safer for small kids.

And they were spaced just nicely so you could bound across them. (Well I could anyway)

The dark grey matting around the trampolines is that super spongy playground surfacing and although it won't prevent all accidents it certainly doesn't hurt when you trip and tumble a little.

Actually, it makes a great surface to do cartwheels and flips.

Medieval Castle

This park has a medieval theme and the castle and slides are certainly a feature of this park.

You can climb inside and pretend you're the king or queen of this castle and the larger slide is super fast so it makes for a quick getaway.

And if you're feeling really strong, you can try to pull out the famous sword from the rock.

This is actually a great photo opportunity, but if you pull it out, you must put it back so others may try their luck.

Parent Tip: Encourage your children to play tag on these playground elements as climbing up and sliding down over and over again makes them super tired quickly ;-)

Other Stuff

I'm not sure how this fits into the theme of the park, but it was fun nonetheless.

You can self-rock yourself, but with a couple of kids on the front and a dad standing at the back you can actually get this swinging quite high. Woohoo!

The thing you sit on is like a caterpillar and the frame is like a spider, so I'm not seeing the connection here.

Maybe you can leave a comment below if you can figure out its real meaning, given it's right next to the Medieval elements I mentioned earlier, it doesn't make any sense.

Facilities

There are a few BBQ's scattered around and the toilets are clean and usable. Although they are the self-cleaning type so don't expect a warm seat.

Anyway, that's my trip Princess Elizabeth Playground in Adelaide and if you find yourself with energetic kids who need a break it's only a short stroll from the end of the Free City Tram line.

So Princess Elizabeth Playground, I'm putting you on the map!

have a great day.gif
