Shipwreck- Original Poetry from the Helm- The U.S.S. MinnowPROSE!
And douse the burning vessel.
Plunging hands into the sea
With rising flames do wrestle.
This barge that once was a home
Is nothing more than ash.
Bare bones that flounder in the waves
Stark and all contrast.
The fire filled her swollen belly
Weighted down by coin.
Scraping reefs and coral beds.
The crew was soon to join.
All that stands upon the sand
Is a broken hearted captain.
Staring out at his broken world
And the inlet it's entrapped in.
Molten gold that cools in waves.
Washed away and mingled
Into sand and oyster shells.
There's no reason left to linger.
He trudges on and wrings his clothes.
Discarding his only weapon.
Heading towards the mainland
and the new career that beckons.
