365 Days Of Poetry: Week 2

in #poetry5 years ago

YOU'RE NOT DEAD

The sober clown is trickling down,
  the side of some lost transient's dish.
Balustrades of better days
  are largely just for ornament.

O’, the pauper we all claim,
  is really just a selfish child.
Chastise swiftly, then move on,
  for we have many, many, miles;
Laugh a bit, then still your face,
  and lift the heavy burden
  into place.

Smile for free and wag your head;–
  The price we pay to lie in bed,
Yes, smile for bones left on the head,
  and demonstrate that
  you're not dead.

To streamline this challenge I will be linking to day one for the details. This is a cross promotion of the Steemit and Cent platforms. Visit me on Steemit. Visit me on Cent.
