Cross that Bridges
bridges serves its purpose
making life easier,
no need to cross the rustling waters.
step one forward,
head turns counterclockwise
glimpsing backward.
step second, the child in you freezes
now frighten by the breezes.
fixing thy eyes down
doubting, questioning
Are this ropes strong enough?
What if I fall?
and then you stop.
while at the moment in your rest,
someone is walking there way
passing, leaving you behind
and now, your sense comes to life
how can they but not me?
mustering your courage
shaking, a little dance
you take that chance
covering your one eye by your left hand
holding the railings by your right
while your foot keep moving
one follows after another slowly
never realize your at half-way,
and then you let those hands free
with a little run
almost there
your face is brighten
both hands in the air, with deep exhale
at last you've made it
guess its not the end,
but still a beginning.
We are so blessed for having this hanging bridge installed in our place. I am so thankful especially this rainy seasons when flooding is frequent. Before, we were isolated for weeks not being able to access the main road. Could not buy our needs if we wanted to without crossing or swimming with those dangerous current. We were always absent at school too. I just hope that this will stand firm and can last longer. This is a life changing project, and I wish they will continue building like this in some places where it is much necessary.
