"The Living & The Dead" - A Poem

Until we know
She's still out there
Somewhere
Laughing
Living
Like always
For all we know
She's around the corner
With a story
And we'll wonder why
We even bothered to worry
You know, you know
Days stretch long
Without knowing
Until the truth comes
Killing hope
A blade that annihilates
That well-worn wishful thought
Leaving us to wonder
If from the start
Somehow
We already knew

When I was 17 one of my classmates went missing (we weren't close but we knew each other). Finding out she'd been killed inflicted one of the major cracks to the aquarium that was my world at the time.

That's an awful thing to have to go though, I can only imagine what it must have been like to be in that class. The closing lines of your poem really capture that feeling of fearing the worst, and in your mind jumping to the worst conclusions, while at the same time trying to remain optimistic. Ninety-nine percent of the time things work out fine, but there's always that one percent...

That one time when the worst case scenario plays out can change your outlook completely. It was terrible but we survived.

Woww que difícil fue eso no? son cosas fuertes que tiene la vida pero Hay que seguir adelante siempre:(
