Poetry - What the heart does

In its books they are written,
they’re part of its pages,
and they grow like gardens
an emotions' fertile land.

It houses majestic places,
spirit loaded objects,
valuable felt knowledge
and people, parts of their souls.

it thought they would be forever,
how innocent, how dreamer!
a pure heart doesn’t know to farewell
and it breaks when love ends.

That's why it tears,
because by loving them so
makes them part of itself
must be torn to let them go.

The heart doesn't know how to uncouple
Doesn’t understand the purpose
to be filled is made
and in love enlarge.

That's why even with time
with wounds now closed
that's why it hurts to touch those
Something important was there.

But the mind understands
the nobility of the heart
and with pain protects it
forcing it to release love.

Then creates labyrinths
and reinforced walls
prevents the entry
of anything within.

So only the one who tries
and insists on entering
will be valuable to love
and gain a place inside.

To the truth of its function
it doesn't need to learn
is made to love
not to let go.

And the miracle within
that is discovered over time
is that broken, torn or in pieces
Still, it keeps beating.
