[ORIGINAL POEM] And the World Never Stops Talking

One of the biggest addictions in life is to talk
We gossip, we talk bad about others
We talk about our problems and we complain
We tell people about what’s wrong with everything
We talk just for the sake of talking
With nothing important to say

It’s a new dawn and as soon as possible we start talking
If we can’t talk we think, the monkey mind just goes on and on
Thinking is like talking to yourself
Many people tell themselves all day, every day
How worthless, ugly, bad and stupid they are
It never stops, like your worst enemy in your own mind

In Buddhism they say before you speak think
Is it helpful, is it kind, is it true?
If not, don’t say it
We think we must say so much all the time
It’s an extrovert’s world
Introversion is often judged as boring

If you want to become a better human being
Maybe talking less is a good thing
People that talk a lot often say too much bad things
Many people seem to say whatever pops up in their mind
With no filter on you will say things that you should regret
Introversion seems more and more good and saner to me

We live on a round planet that spins around a star
And we just talk and talk, think and think
I think I was born an introvert
But I forced myself to become more extrovert
To fit in, to be fun, to be someone people liked
But my true nature is to be more introvert

I think I’m going to become a very quiet person
I want my talking and thinking to be clean
I want a clear and clean mind, without the chatter
There’s no way to achieve this if you talk too much
If you talk with no filter, without purpose
Let the world keep spinning, and keep talking, but I’m out
