Hourglass (new poem)

When all I see is what I saw the day before,
And all I do I do it to delay my death,
When friends are gone and people want me near no more,
When life is fading from within with every breath,

I cannot help exhaling shreds of my crushed soul.
I've turned the hourglass and now it's flowing down.
There is no stopping, no return. I've lost control.
Although I cannot feel the pain in which I drown,

I watch—with much regret—my life—the upper part.
What's left up there is but a trace—a residue.
I can't believe there once was love inside my heart.
All that was good and real was but a deja vu.

And now that there is nothing left of me to save,
The filled up bottom has become my home—my grave.
