Just Another Summer Storm
Stealing the air
Preparing to perform
Sparking to life in the afternoon
Gone by the evening tide
As the summer storm beats the coastal shore
The waves thrash high
Then they are no more
Crashing the sand with such force
Last throes of a long ride
A calm takes the wind
There's a hush through the town
Knowing that the moment will end
Nobody wants it to
Then the moon pulls back
And full waters recede
Rushing away like a fading dream
Everyone regains their focus
And returns to what they must do
You captured the imagery perfectly here @inalittlewhile! I especially loved,
Very clever. Thank you for another great piece of writing :)
Haha @lynncoyle1. Thanks as always for sharing. It should have been throes. Not clever at all, just a mistake. Kids were distracting me, that's my excuse. :):)
hahaha believe it or not, but I totally missed that and was actually paying you a genuine compliment...no sarcasm intended haha That's funny :) I really loved that line and the image it conveyed!
Ok I did the edit, we can pretend like I never said anything.
Thanks @lynncoyle1. Those waves started from a storm somewhere very far away. They traveled a great distance just to bash their anger out on the beach as a last stand. :)
Pretend like what never was said? :)
The ocean mixed with Mother Nature's fury is such a powerful thing, isn't it? Distance seems to make the heart grow more fury in her case!
Found your blog from our discord group minnow-power 💜 the ocean really is so amazing it can be like a calm lake at times , and like your pictures 💪💙 i love ocean storms and wait for them. Because all the treasures come to the shoes 🐚🧡 . I just did a blog about some of my shells i found beach combing back home on maui. I hope u get to check it out. 🌸
Thanks. I'm so glad you found it and liked it. I'm in San Diego so it's just the big pond that separates me from the Islands. :)
I've grown up on the beach but never even visited Hawaii. My mom even lived there for a year when she was really young. I want to go and hike and fish. It would be something to see a tropical storm and all the goodies that wash up from it. :)
Do u know what island she lived on? I was born and raised on maui. I now live in Florida.
The energy of a storm on the water is SO vastly different than when you're on land. You captured this so well!
Thanks @byn. It's open and almost eerie. I've seen thousands of lightning strikes lighting up the ocean water on a tuna trip many years back. It was a crazy evening. :)
