The Battle (Poetry)

Looking at your frail eyes.
Helpless as it seems.
They were talking but unheard.
Can't make your tongue speak.
There are constraints
making it impossible to voice out.

Your strength starts to wane.
Limited motions do not serve
how it was even reserved for.
Heart yearns to be paid attention.
The anticipated pain from your words
never will I want to hear.

Daylight breaks, your memory faints.
Called unfamiliar names.
Is this over? Will you end this battle.
Your face speaks it is.
Then you closed your eyes.
The heart and brain stops to operate.
It means it's over.

Cancer has killed numerous of people, and still afflicting many people. There are a number of studies being conducted to invent possible therapies for patients, yet to no avail. Some therapies were offered to prevent it, however, perceptions from other specialists are skeptical towards them. What everyone hopes is researchers, inventors, and specialist will find treatment that will be beneficial for the patients.

The poem was written according to the perspective of a person who's a loved one is dying of cancer. The experience of taking care of cancer patient and watching how the disease afflicts him/her is such a bitter pill that if only you have the power to take a dose of their pain, then you should've already done.
