FISHERS AT DUSK (An Original Poetry ➕ Analysis, Notes & Literary Appreciation 📝)

We're fishermen at sea;
holding our hooks as swords;
poised as desperate gladiators
armed with fading expectations;
a tiny root of hope sprouting;
yet nets at dusk with budding enough to feed the eyes with tears,

We're fishers at dusk,
watching the weary eyes of the sunset;
for a tincture of good news;
The sea is filled with weary bones,
toiling from the huskiness of dawn
On empty stomachs and empty ambitions,
Unable to feed on tomorrow's hope,
but the dissapointment of today,

We're fishers at dusk,
waking at the first peep of light;
When the lights are dim In the bayou
to once again probe the seas;
and ask for it's numerous blessings,
We are waiting for Jesus at the helm,
else we are amateurs with tattered hooks,
and no worms as bait
Waiting in vain all day till the coming of dusk.

We're fishers at dusk,
sifting through our memories of agony,
Silent waters, empty banks,
beside a disappointed river with goldfishes,
Far, far away from the ordinary,
Whereas we toil with many expectations,
we're fishers at dusk going home with baskets filled of emptiness

POETIC NOTES & ANALYSIS

Fishers at dusk is a poem that narrates the situation of corruption in high places, hidden, unknown to the general public but very powerful enough to displace people, render their livelihood a bit inefficient and block the source of wealth of nation, controlling the flow or pool of wealth, and leaving just little for the majority.

The poem explains oligrachy, explaining government in the hands of few. The poem is metaphoric and uses fishes and fishing to explain the desperate situation of people who are undergoing painful occurrences. It explains the fact that people leave their homes in search of good fortunes for themselves and their families, yet despite their thorough hardwork they still find it difficult to make ends meet, thereby threatening the existence of their future and that of their offspring.

The poem covers an issue of corruption in very secret places, it explains the fact that resources are too plenty to feed the world, but there are a group of people who are pulling the strings and making sure poverty is becomes the order of the day. The poet trys to mirror this situation by using fishing and sea. Therefore in a seas filled with enough to contain everyone yet the majority are still In lack.
