We bade the tide a hearty goodbye,
to return home to bread stew and pies,
sailors with rusty scabbards,
who conquered sea gods and monsters,
they're knights of the marines,
Who have navigated unknown islands,
returning to the comfort of dry lands,
fig trees, creamy sunshine and beautiful laughters,
but a step from home, the storms came knocking.

The wave is a bloody bastard,
that came at the loneliness of the knight
and turned men to pasty custard,
they climb the Mississippi gallant heights,
wielding the flags of victors,
uncountable days in the windy dome,
painting the laughter of smiling children,
but a step into dry lands,
Shipwrecked at dusk.

A hymn is stinging the guitar,
Coffins coming in countlessly like the rain,
conquerors at seas,
but sinking in the muddy soils,
the Atlantic and the Pacific, twenty and two years,
but the Lords of the sea,
Will be stinking in graves,
fifteen men has laid on a dead man's chest,
and the tears of daughters stings like bottles of rum.

They're bloody Poseidon!
riders of hell's bike into abyss,
their boots will hang still,
in the beautifull sunset skies,
and we will sing a song already sung,
feel the agony of the scorpion stung,
at the hour of running to land for succor,
Shipwrecked at the painful hour of dusk.

POETIC NOTES & ANALYSIS

The poem depicts a sailor who's just returning from so many years journey of sojourn on sea, it explains a journey of a quest at sea, so many years of travelling round the world on sea, without seeing the beauty of the sun, the smiles of his children and the beauty of family and loved ones.
The poet explains a catastrophic shipwreck that happens on the sailor's last journey it was going to be a last voyage to the Atlantic ocean then finally goes home to be with his daughter.

The sailor seems to have developed a phobia for the sea after so many years of travelling, he loathed the sense of impunity the sea posseses it brings him a feeling of loneliness and sadness, being in the comfort of something so endearing so beautiful as travelling in the sea yet in the ending days it seems he's lonely and in the lasting moments he decides to quit sea travelling, however he underwent one last journey to finally bade the sea goodbye, but he was shipwrecked and ended up dying at sea.
