Once A Great Love

in #poetry6 years ago

A poem written by Yehuda Amichai.

There are so many things you can say about love and there are also some reasons some would say to stay away from it, but in all reality love is just love.

In this poem, the writer suffered a loss of love when his once upon a time partner left, but he did not let himself suffer in misery over it.

Like most things, you can overcome the pain of anything by loving yourself first and moving towards the bigger picture of life and all that it offers.

Once A Great Love by Yehuda Amichai

Once a great love cut my life in two.
The first part goes on twisting
at some other place like a snake cut in two.

The passing years have calmed me
and brought healing to my heart and rest to my eyes.

And I'm like someone standing in the Judean desert, looking at a sign:
"Sea Level"
He cannot see the sea, but he knows.

Thus I remember your face everywhere
at your "face Level."

Love is perhaps one of the great motifs of universal literature, @joseph, and especially of poetry. But just as love is, so too is dislike a source of inspiration for poets. Who hasn't felt the dagger of separation? The pain of goodbyes? Sad is the man who keeps his heart intact, because he has lost living love. Thank you for sharing the poem by Yehuda Amichai

An alright poem, it is true that love lost can hurt. Love the love

The prejudices that we set ourselves are those that prevent us from loving each other, but life teaches us one way or another to love us as we are ... 𝒴𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝒶𝓅𝓅𝓇𝑒𝒸𝒾𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃 𝓌𝒶𝓈 𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎 𝒷𝑒𝒶𝓊𝓉𝒾𝒻𝓊𝓁 ...
