MAMA'S STORY
I told mama a story she told me
She asked me who told me such a sorry story
I was confuse for the telling was from mama's lips
I remember it flowing flawlessly like okra that is not well cooked
The worry was on her face and it became a case
As young always wrong i thought for that was how i was taught
Now i want to tell but do not know how to narrate it
Mama started
I am here to inform not to perform
As an art of informant you may see some performance but that is not it
It's a news Im trying to to bring though it is not new
The information in quotation has been well informed and quoted
All ears here, hear for years it has been preached
The yeast for the feast is in the east
You have to beat the meat before you heat
Mama continued
A mockingbird sits and mocks not but sings praises
To write right the wright has to be bright
A river is stagnant and flows from no source
In the deep sea sits the salt and afraid to get into water
For you to grow and glow, you need to be grateful to be great
Mama said
If the peace is in pieces
If the Justice is just ice
If the freedom was to make us freeless
If the struggle was to make us wrestle
Then tell me why did we do it
Mama said
If a dart in the bulls eye is a gamble
If an arrow straight to the spot is for fame
If the bull by the horn is to tame it
Then why did we do it
Mama concluded
Why did we sit and watched the teeth get rotten
Why did we stand when our hearts were strangled
Why do we still stand and do nothing
Is a shot through my heart the same game
Mama summarised
We cry for everything but little do we try for
We shout in the streets and strut ourselves in our rooms
If you don't want your hands dirty, then whose hand do you want to use to clean your dirt.
This is mama's story which i can still not decode
