Throwback Poem-Off: Sins of Another (Original Poetry)

in #poetry6 years ago

The poetic dance continues, with each one it becomes harder to find the right step. Here is my latest entry in the poem-off with @uniwhisp

Read her last entry here: The Wound

Sins of another

Built from sins of another
We put up barbed wired fences
Then force others to do the penance
Caused by sins of another
We hide our new found scars
And then keep new people a far
As we don’t want them to be exposed
For fear of reliving those emotional lows
Created from sins of another
We build a fortress made of stone
And it surrounds our heart whole
Then give others nothing but a chisel
So they can only create a chink
Rather than crack our fortress to its brink

What's a poem-off, you ask? A challenge between @uniwhisp and I to see if we can go turn-for-turn and repost some of our long lost poems from the vaults of time. No rules apply, and new stuff might just make the mix!

Regards,
Mitchell J
