Patron saint of All Good Things Forgotten
everytime we dance, it is a slow dance
No matter the melody, albeit the beat of the song
In the bar graph of our movement we reside in the top right corner
where the x-axis is moonlight & lunacy, and the y-axis
an amalgam of things like fire, lust, and desire

This, where our desire
was adhesive to what could be forgotten
the part of being we could always access
through the door of some strange dance
to our desolate little corner
filled with the music of a moaning song

How we worshipped the song
How worship transcended desire
How I stood on the altar, but only the corner
Unwilling sacrifice, half forgotten
where my toes would do their last tap dance
noose tight, tied between the atlas and the axis

Nothing could change the rotational axis
of my world like the song
of your voice in the dark, mid dance
Blooming with a dangerous desire
That which could resurrect the forgotten
long after the departure of the coroner

Secrets we kept at the very farthest corner
of the earth and the axiomatic axis
of your beloved body. A body that could not be forgotten
but would endure time through song
Songs of praise, and that pure unrelenting desire
So haunting there was nothing to do but dance

I'll never forget that last dance
when out of the bloodshot corner
of my eye, I saw all that I would desire
roughly hewn, scarred and destroyed by the bluntest of axes
At the last chord of the final song
All was lost, but never forgotten

Now at night you dance along the axis
of a heart filled with desire, broken by song
The corners of my mouth curl around a name
That could not be forgotten

From dictionary.com: A sestina is a poem with six stanzas of six lines and a final triplet, all stanzas having the same six words at the line-ends in six different sequences that follow a fixed pattern, and with all six words appearing in the closing three-line envoi. An envoi is a short closing stanza.
