Today!
Winter left us a while ago
as it left it took the cold and the grey
Spring entered with no great fanfare
and Summer knocked hard on the door
as the days grew hot, dusty and the dry of Winter remained
But today!
Today the new will arrive
Today the colours will come
Today the air will be clean
Today we will breathe deeply
Today we will smile
For today it will rain
The clouds have gathered
The breeze is cool
The prophets on tv have spoken
My phone has confirmed
Today it will rain
and Winter will be washed away!

I had to laugh. You sounded a little like you were trying to convince yourself. Looking up into the endless clear blue sky, "The rains are coming." I spent years in Africa (considerably north of you). It never rained ... although, in fairness, we never tried to induce it with poetry. :-)

Guess who just found a new ... and lucrative ... profession!!! Marketing, though, is important. Everybody likes a good story. You'll need to grow a beard, buy some beads and learn to hop around on one foot while you recite. It's call "Performance Art" for a reason.

I wouldnt call them prophets but yeah it will rain! Even here in Tunisia ;)
This is a cool poem! I don't usually associate Winter with dryness, and the end of winter needing the rain, but it makes sense.
