Perbedaan antara sejarawan dan penyair bukanlah yang menulis dalam prosa dan yang lainnya dalam puisi. (Karya Herodotus dapat diatur dalam bentuk puitis, dan dalam bentuk ini nilai historisnya tidak akan lebih rendah daripada dalam bentuk tanpa dimensi).
