role models inspire — seen as gods,
their excellence creates a legacy,
the unlearn wonders in awe
I must be this man
I must be this woman
diligently a dream is born,
imitation, emulation transpires.
books become honey — it sweetens the brain.

time makes all things count,
the early we are to dream;
bright shines our future.
Is the wind too strong?
challenge the current,
to fly, a chick mimicks it's mum
do not worry for none,
flap that wings with no fear,
thrust into the air.
build that goal while young.

what is wrong with this child?
ambition is so strong,
the future is colourful - with a glance,
as the years grow old
foundation is built strong,
she's made it — dreams now a reality,
relentless of the odds,
she's now a god to her generation.
adored by the all.
aspiring legacy is born.

MY THOUGHTS

When we become a figure people likes to imitate, it's a fruit we must have sown during our childhood. The popular role models we have in this modern age are product of what they dreamt of in their prepubescence days. Rome was not built in a day so they say; role models are gods to many dreams yet to bloom from abstract to reality.

Dear reader, wood without fire won't produce heat, smoke and warmth; so is a dream without a role model to trigger it's launch. A role model is like a bridge with promising destination, once threaded on, gives a good direction.

This was what inspired me to write this poem; I happened to watch Angelica Hale on AGT show( America got talent show). During her questioning on stage. The judge asked her “who do you wanna become in the future” She replied the judge “I want to be the next Whitney Houston”. Her performance throughout the competition was extraordinary for a teen who was only nine years old.
Looking at her now; Whitney Houston was a god to her dream but now she's a god to aspiring musicians.
