I have been trying
To write a verse
To paint the picture
Of you and me
Collapsing into one.

I have failed
Because you have become
A broken chord progression
And the duet is a screeching halt
That tears into me each time
We try to become one.

I am not broken yet
But I sense the end.
I am not dust yet
But in your eyes I see
The darkness that is yet
To dwell within me.

What shall we do
We who have loved and lost?
What shall we do
We who have failed to breathe in unison?
What shall we do?
