BROKEN WORDS: EXPLORATIONS VI
Broken words, she spoke
But there was nothing there,
No meaning, no thought,
Just words, broken words.
They fell, cracked, faded,
From her tongue like teeth,
Sharp, rotten, stained, bleeding
On me, a rain of pain and tears.
Broken words like love,
Rejection, fear, destruction.
Broken sounds like ha, hmm.
The harmonious duet of pain and regret,
The faint taste of tainted breath
And the silent feet of whitewashed lies;
Broken words.
The heavens wept.
See the leaves on the trees,
See them drip,
See the jumbled cloud drift,
Hear the wind; the heavens wept.
I shuddered at her words.
They hurt, broken as they are
And though I tried to heal,
Every word clung to my soul
And I broke again and again.
Broken, I lay staring at the sky,
Seeking the stars that glitter
With old raindrops.
I put my headphones on
And drift away, far away
From her words.
