Poetic Short Story: The Battle With One's Self
Heya, fellow steemians and otakus! It's me again, @yuki-nee for another [Poetic Short Story] titled, "The Battle With One's Self"
A man walking the hot, dry desert, as if looking for rebirth. His tired, and regretful eyes, wanting release, to die. But his time had not come, his heart still beat a delicate strum. As if waiting for hope, while walking a thin rope.
The sun shine with full glory, looking at the man not at all sorry. Dusty wind that blow, makes his journey mercilessly slow. Then night finally come, the man took out a rum. But when he is about to drink, a memory almost drives him to the brink...
He looked at the bottle that's almost empty, then throw it away without sympathy. Alcohol destroyed his life, taking away his beloved wife. Sober, and in pain, the man wished that it would rain. But miracles rarely happen, it's like hitting a triple seven.
As the man looked at the desert, he wished that time can revert. So he could change his life, a life free of strife. Yet he knows that this cannot be, for time will flow like the river, and sea. A flow that cannot stop, flow that must not stop.
Then the night said goodbye, and morning cry hi! The man opened his eyes, and what he saw froze him in ice. The desert is gone, and was replaced by the valley of the sun. The man's petrified, his desires had been satisfied. Tears flow like a stream, not wanting to wake up from this dream...
