📌Relations between Serbia and Kosovo

As we know, the problem of Serbia and Kosovo dates back to the beginning of the last century. Today, and after 100 years, there is still no solution. What is the reason why there is no final solution and when will it come? After the break-up of the former Yugoslav state, many things remained unresolved. Today, and after nearly 20 years since the end of the war, there is no solution. Will finally come to peace and joint functioning in this region?

In the past 100 years, Kosovo has been an integral part of today's Republic of Serbia. It was in various forms of statehood. From the Kingdom of SHS, through the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and then through the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Most of the population was always Albanian. Under the constitution of the SFRY from 1974, provinces such as Kosovo and Vojvodina have received even greater powers. They were related to making a veto, even in relation to Serbia itself, to which they belonged as an integral part. The death of Tito, the lifelong president of the then SFRY, began big problems. All this led to bloody wars in the country, and the last in a row was the war in Kosovo. In Kosovo, the idea of statehood was created and strengthened, while the then SFRY became increasingly weaker. Pressures from the outside grew stronger. Especially from the west. The then leadership of the world's largest force, specifically the USA, and the strongest European powers such as Germany and the United Kingdom actively participated in the demolition of the state. Of course, Yugoslavia was a fertile ground for such a thing, given the differences that existed. The six constituent nationalities, three religions, that was enough for the people to dash. And besides, no one wanted a strong and big state on the Balkan Peninsula. It seems that the war was the only way to solve all problems, at least for some who had the greatest impact.

After all wars all over the country, in 1999 there was a war in Kosovo. The then dictatorial regime in SRY, apparent in Slobodan Milosevic, apparently did not know how to solve the Kosovo problem peacefully. Instead, there was military intervention and entry into Kosovo with tanks and weapons. The idea was to clean up the Albanians from Kosovo, who were then about a million and a half. At the same time, the UČK terrorist organization is being formed in Kosovo, as a guerrilla organization that opposed the powerful Serbian army. Most people in the UČK were dissidents. They were directly financed by the US and Western countries, although they were first declared a terrorist organization. The war could have begun. In view of the mighty army it had inherited from the former Yugoslavia and the then JNA, SRY rapidly advanced in Kosovo. After the bloodshed, the NATO Alliance decides to act and begin intervention in the SRY, which lasted just over two months. The bombing of the SRY was cruel, the Serbian army had to withdraw from Kosovo. The war was over. Albanians declared victory. Although the war ended, hatred between Serbs and Albanians became even greater. The problem, of course, has not been resolved. Kosovo has not yet gained statehood, and Serbia has continued to look at Kosovo as an integral part of the territory.

Stay tuned! Next time we continue with the second part. This is an important issue, which must be resolved in order for the nations to finally begin to live normally. This is not the only problem, but it is the biggest as a prerequisite for normalizing relations on the Balkan Peninsula. Of course, all normal people want it. This was a brief overview of the past.
